New Delhi: Just before ending their 10-day long fast, the Team Anna on Friday formally announced to enter into political arena by launching a new political outfit. Making the big announcement at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar about the agenda of the proposed party, core committee member Arvind Kejriwal said that new party will fight for the cause of people of the country and will promote decentralization, secularism and transparency in system.
Replying to the remarks of some of the Congress leaders who said that Team Anna’s movement was motivated by the lust for power, Kejriwal further added if the Central Government agrees to their demands for a strong Lokpal institution and right to recall the public representatives, his team would withdraw its decision to join politics. He also sought public opinions to suggest a suitable name for the proposed political party.
Team Anna breaks their fast
After 10-day long fast, Team Anna finally on Friday evening broke their fast at Jantar Mantar. Earlier, various prominent personalities had appealed Team Anna to break their fast. Remarkably, Team Anna has been sitting on fast for the effective Lokpal.
However, spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar disagreed over the Team Anna’s decision to float a political party. Talking to a news channel, Sri Sri said, “I disagree to the Team Anna’s decision to plunge into politics to some extent.”
